About Me

i'm single guy, transplanted from the east coast of Canada living in the mountains of BC. I'm a total outdoors type individual. I work outdoors most of the time and I recreate outdoors during much of my free time. I love dogs but have yet to own 1. I have lived with roommates for about half my life (thou not anymore) and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with shared living. I work 10-12 hour days and take 3 days OFF a week. I get to spend a bunch of time with animals, domestic and wild. I love seeing places that take effort to reach, they are often the most beautiful. I think I still have a bit of saltwater in my veins from growing up on the Atlantic. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to how the fridge is organized. I know that proper boots can mean the difference between a wonderful multi-day trip and a painful nightmare trip. I usually do the meal planning for trips.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During the time ive lived in the mountains of western Canada ive been most fortunate to live in or near resort communities. Living in these towns, friends and friends of friends and friends with friends always came to visit, Many couchsurfers made use our our communal space. This has lead to many great adventures, single and multi-day. Many new friendships, and lots of great stories. I'm always happy to host travelers planning on enjoying the great recreation opportunities in this mountain playground. I enjoy meeting liberal minded individuals and sharing some Beta on my mountain zone. I've also spent many a night occupying friends couches in search a new ski hill experience, a new river to run, trail to hike or a bigger waterfall to see.

Music, Movies, and Books

mostly a non-fiction reader, currently reading "McMafia"

I'm a fan of indie and alternative rock but still like to turn it up when some of classic 90s hits come on!

These days I'm must more into watching documentaries and history pieces than current programming. Dont have NetFlix or cable or satellite, just a spotty old school dial-up internet connection thru my rotary phone!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once spoon-fed a female black bear with a long handled wooden spoon - for obvious reasons!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always share a bottle of red wine with a host. plus if they are comfortable with a guest in their kitchen i have decent culinary skills and I'm always happy to prepare a meal.

I've got a decent collection of bear stories to share from years of living and working in the National Parks system.

my passion for the great outdoors and the need to conserve this beautiful, relatively intact, mountain ecosystem that we in North America are lucky enough to live in.
