About Me

I live with my wife in a log home out in the country. We love travelling and immersing ourselves in other cultures. I also love travelling solo on my motorcycle. In 2014 I rode from Ontario to the Arctic Ocean in Alaska, down to California and then home. In September 2018 I left home on my motorcycle to ride to the bottom of South America and back. Unfortunately I broke my leg in a motorcycle accident less than 1000 km shy of the bottom. In January 2020 I returned to Argentina, completed the trip to Ushuaia, and then rode as far North as Nicaragua before I had to fly home because of the pandemic.
In March of 2022 I returned to Nicaragua, retrieved my motorcycle and rode it back to my home in Canada 🇨🇦.
I am fully Vaccinated and up to date with a boosters.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people and getting a 'local' connection rather than staying in a sterile hotel environment.
I love sharing my home with people and hearing their stories.
Couchsurfing is a great way to make connections and meet interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite movie- Top Gun- for the flying sequences.
Favourite Books- Shogun and Taipan, as well as Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth.
My musical tastes are very eclectic. If I can sing to it I like it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My wife and I backpacked though SE Asia for three months in 2015.
Built a large woodfired clay oven on my property, with all local materials, which we cook in regularly.
I've ridden my motorcycle from Canada to Ushuaia in Southern Argentina and back to Canada.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to cook for people and also learn new recipes and help (and learn from) others as they cook. Eating and sharing food makes great personal connections.
Currently learning Spanish and am able to communicate in Spanish with someone who has no english at all

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and am willing to pitch in and help just for the learning opportunity. I have a good sense of humour and am easy to get along with. I love listening to people and sharing stories.
