My name is Rick and I have tried to live a life less ordinary. I have had many careers in the past and all have been things that have been interesting. I have trained with military units, I have been a map maker, I have been a firefighter, a school teacher, a law enforcement instructor, a business owner, a fitness instructor and a shark diver for Walt Disney World. I have been around the world, but only as a tourist. I have been through the worst life can throw at a person, from the death of my child in my arms to being cheated on and left multiple times by wives and women I gave my all too. What has not stopped me is only making me a better person overall and now I want to go out into the world again and really see it and live in and among it. That is why I am here and I hope to bring smiles and inspiration to all those I come across in my adventures both home and abroad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see the world again from a less sterile tourist perspective. And I want to be a friend to new people in the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I marched in the Rose Bowl Parade dressed as a Star Wars character with George Lucas being the Grand Marshal.
