About Me

I'm Rick, 22 year old student in Leon, Guanajuato Mexico.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Simple, as all of us, I wanted to travel cheap. So far I have only been hosted by two people, one very cool Indian guy in Amsterdam, and one german guy in Hamburg.

I have hosted so far only friends who visited me during my time in Aachen, never received requests from anybody else.

I believe couchsurfing is a great platform, when people using it really have the spirit of meeting new people, lending a hand to travelers and using one if needed.

Interests

I love music, know how to play piano, guitar and a little of violin. I also like sports, I played basketball during high school. I'm a soccer fan, although I don't really play that well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my home university , every summer we get 3 months of vacations, and during my first year I stayed home doing nothing in particular. I felt so bad about it, so. The Next year I decided to take advantage of those days . I took my savings( like 500usd) and bought a flight to New York. The money went away very fast(of course, it was ny) and I needed to earn some money at least for my trip back. I started looking for things to do, and I ended up working as a waiter in an Italian restaurant. To this day I'm still not sure if doing that was legal or not but, it turns out that the owners of the place didn't ask for anything except for my name, my abilities and supposed experience, I ended up working there for almost 2 months and earning much more money than ever in my life. Even when my official salary was not that much, Americans give AT LEAST 20% tip every time so...

It was a very nice experience, especially because I never expected any of that when I had the crazy idea of going to ny to see what happened.

Teach, Learn, Share

Weird field haha. When I was in Mexico I gave private guitar and piano lessons to young kids, started because I wanted to have some extra money (surprising answer, I know) but I ended it enjoying it a lot, now I miss my students so .. I guess I could teach that ?

Learn? Wow, whatever anyone either guest or host could teach me about their field of interest, would be awesome, one doesn't stop being surprised about the things people know, sharing knowledge is the great thing about meeting new people!
