About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Spread a Little Aloha around the World...

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised on the mean streets of Detroit, MI. Just kidding, I grew up in the suburbs, kind of like Eminem.

I joined the Coast Guard when I was 19, left Michigan, and have been nomadic ever since, living all along the the East Coast of the U.S. with a few years in California to balance it out. After I left the Coast Guard, I moved to Hawaii to finish my bachelor's. I spent 7 months training Muay Thai in Thailand, 4 months in Barcelona, 4 months in Taipei, and the last 6 months in California, finishing up my master's. Now the next chapter is taking me to Phoenix, AZ at the end of December.

PHILOSOPHY

My mom's parting words before I left home were, "follow your heart." I try to live every day by that belief. I also believe you should leave every person better than you found them. Lastly, my "Golden Rule," treat others as THEY would like to be treated, not as YOU would like to be treated...

Movies - Again, I'm pretty easy to please, anything with at least a 3 star rating on Netflix

Books - The Alchemist, Rich Dad Poor Dad, The 4-Hour Workweek

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove out with a few friends to Ka'ena Point, the northwest tip of Oahu, on a moonless night. We were laying out on the beach on the most clear, perfect, cloudless night. I saw the Milky Way for the first time. I thought I had seen stars before, but until that night I never knew just how gigantic our galaxy was. It was like a belt of white composed of billions of stars was reaching across the sky. I had never up to that point in my life felt so small and yet so important at the exact same time...

Teach, Learn, Share

A good friend once asked me, "if there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?" This is my answer: to teach every person in the world personal responsibility. This means that every person takes responsibility for him or herself. No blaming your problems on the economy, your upbringing, your friends, your teachers, the government, etc. You CAN'T control most of the things that happen to you, but you CAN control how you react. The moment you stop blaming your problems on other people is the moment you realize just how powerful you are...
