ABOUT ME

5-3-14 update: busy with school, I might not log in as often or be available for hosting as much now, but hopefully we're able to host you if you send a message early :)

Hi friends & kin! Just another human person here, exploring the world with an open heart and open arms~~I love hugs! I'm going to school, doing student and non-student-centered activism, studying some sociology. I love to bike everywhere, cook and eat with old and new friends, and sing and dance around.

PHILOSOPHY

We are all connected and interdependent--humans of all cultures, colors, genders, and experiences, and the trees, the animals, the earth, and the stars in the sky. Our actions and thoughts should be kind and loving towards ourselves and one another. Often the world is so heavy that compassion is not the first word we offer one another. When we are able, and particularly when we are relatively privileged, we should work to dismantle systems of violence and oppression. We must seek love and understanding interpersonally and systemically.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS host brought us to a "pants party" in Vancouver, BC. Urging me to undress, the host cheerily and rather unapologetically explained in her beautiful accent, "In Ireland, pants means underpants." After that we painted each other's bodies under blacklight and danced the night away.

Let's cook yummy foodz together! I love sharing food with people whether it's from a dumpster, a community food share, or bought with my food benefits. I WILL FEED YOU.
I know about Portland. Biking around Portland. Basic bike mechanics. Basic fermentation and food culturing like hard cider, kimchi, kombucha, and tempeh. Sociology stuff, feminism, student activism stuff, queer stuff, basic radical leftist stuff, dumpstering skillz, listening, mediating, and interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and more to come as I learn!

I wanna share other individuals' and cultures' view of the world. Alternative epistemologies. I want to rediscover subjugated knowledge and knowledge that modern Western society has deemed irrelevant, especially natural knowledge. I want local knowledge! Show me the local dumpstering spots! Help me rediscover foraging wild edibles in your region. Local history and lore! I want to see the beauty that you see in your city, your town, your country.
I ALSO could probably use some help navigating the CS site--not the most tech literate--so I can participate more in this beautiful community!
