ABOUT ME

At the moment I am travelling with my boyfriend Magnus. We are on an adventure that ends July 2014, we started in Turkey, and are heading east, maybe Georgia, Azarbadjan, Iran, Pakistan, India etc.....we don't know yet, depending on who we meet and the the adventures we get....our main focus is exploring, learning, getting inspired and share our experiences.

We are open, adventurous, fun and curios about alternative ways of living. We are both teachers.

Marie teach in English and math and also have a master in international development and social studies. Also I have been working a lot with global citizenship, empowerment, campaigning, alternative leadership training, project planning etc. in a international NGO called ActionAid.

Magnus teach physics and chemistry, history and sports. Also I have a lot of experience in sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, parkour, capoeira and a lot of other physical activities including being at a circus school for many years and performing as an circus artist. Also I have been working as a sailor and a firefighter.

Mainly I think that one word is central: curiosity. For me that is what makes us learn and get adventures. So I try to be curios in everything I do...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am very new, I have not been able to host yet but would love to when I get a couch. So at the moment I try to couchsurf around the world. Also I would love to meet up with couchsurfers in different cities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couchserfed or hosted...but i have been wanting to for a long time!!

Interests

To meet interesting people and cultures and to learn from these. I do this a lot by traveling, and for example hitch hiking and volunteering through work away.

Playing board games and a lot of other games.

Skiing (Magnus snowboard).

To teach and to influence youngsters to take part in society.

To be physical (have been injured the last year, but is well recovering, so I want to start again soon).

Sustainability and how to live more sustainable. I am normally vegetarian, but at this journey I eat meat when it is not possible to get vegetarian food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read fantasy books and play board games. But I also like just to read a good book, at the moment I mainly read traveling books.

I like to listen to a lot of different music, mostly old 80 and 90 pop and often reggae.

I like to watch series like, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2006 I lived in Kenya for 6 months, in a small village without electricity and running water. I was volunteering at a woman's group. An amazing experience.

I have been working a lot with an NGO called ActionAid both as a volunteer and employed. I worked with courses and seminars, capacity building young activists from around the world in campaigning and leadership. I traveled a lot doing this, ex. Nepal and Kenya.
