Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

To find my niche

ABOUT ME

I've lived in multiple states (Illinois, Indiana, Florida, California, Missouri, & Wyoming)I'm an environmental activist and conservationist. I use to go to film school but then switched to sociology, statistics, and environmental studies. At my heart I'm a researcher (aka seeker of knowledge). I enjoy hiking, outdoorsy things, backpacking, riding my bike around town, and people watching. I'm just getting into rockclimbing. I'm a novice yogi; I hope to get my yoga teacher training in India! I read A BUNCH,watch great films, and love music (mostly lo-fi). I get along with most people I meet, love dogs (animals of all kinds), and am known to have a boisterous laugh. I've been an AmeriCorps member working on a student farm. I've also worked on a Butterfly pavilion & co-op in Belize on an alternative spring break trip. I was part of a student group that created a student confrence to promote diversity and social and environmental justice activist. I've participated in Occupy Wall Street, the Tar Sands Pipeline Action, and the march to save blair mountain. My main interests lately are on mental health issues and I read about emotional health as a past time.

PHILOSOPHY

"We are the readers. We are the ones who want to know more. We are the ones who observe the fictional and the real. We are the ones who create the story, even when there isn't one there to begin with. We are the ones you write for. We are the ones who make things more interesting because we can find the story in every conversation, in every interaction. We are the ones who will never stop learning, dreaming, hoping, finding. We are the ones will never stop trying to figure it out, and will always be aware that we never will; it'€™s what keeps us searching, looking, wanting."

"The illiterate of the 21st Century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn" -Alvin Toffler

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I was once peed on by an aligator. The best experience I've ever had was working on a community co-op and butterfly garden in Belize. Aside from working in the garden and constantly munching on fresh food (including coconut) I eneded the days swiming in the river and periodically hiking through the jungle.I've also participated in the weeklong march to save blair mountain in west virginia. I've never met more amazing people than I did there. http://marchonblairmountain.org/

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I'm an assistant research scientist with a B.A in Sociology, Environment and Natural Resources, and minor in Statistics. I'm currently taking classes on water issues becuase that where my heart lays. My goal is to continue Environmental Justice activism. I know hiking and backpacking spots, I'm a great gluten free/vegan cook, I know the local coffee shops, bars, and bookshops. I would love to learn how to fly fish. What kinds of skills or information could you share with someone? What would you like to learn?
