I'm pretty boring and chill. I'm a 45 year old nerd. I have a background in photonics and have been a teacher in public ed. I currently write curriculum and develop lab hardware for renewable energy and environmental sustainability programs in high schools and in post-secondary education.

I am a weekend mountain biker...but not really. I want to work up to be a weekend mountain biker but for now I just get around on my bike when I can.

Also, I am involved in different environmental activism initiatives here in the PNW and I host a show on our local community radio station in Coos County, Oregon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's seems like a fun way to meet new folks. I'm not shy - but when I go out and adventure, I'd like to know I can lay my head somewhere. I'm a total old school Airbnb'er. Airbnb is also VERY fun for me, and since I just heard about Couchsurfer.com (from reading a book about Airbnb, actually) I decided to give it a shot.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Andrew Bird, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Mountain Goats, The Shins, Superchunk...stuff like that.

Movies: Star Wars. And that's about it - I really do not watch many movies or TV shows

Books: I have a very active reading list that has many, many authors and spans many genres. If I had to categorize a small majority of my reading, I guess I'd say most anything by Timothy Zahn or Jim Butcher or Robert Asprin could be found on my shelf.
