About Me

I studied biology (and science-based business) and did work in the fields of marketing, IT, and currently customer service. It might seem like drunk man's walk, but it surely is a story.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My love for traveling all started with Couchsurfing. I wanted to make a journey as a project to improve social skills and was planning to surf couches across the US. As a start, I made a small trip into Belgium and Germany to test out the style of traveling. In the end, due to lower prices and good experiences in hostels, I changed my big journey into one in Southeast Asia. I traveled around from hostel to hostel in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, and had loads of memorable experiences from the time.

Couchsurfing has been a tool for me to meet people at any time or place. Since I lived on my own, I've hosted people for some time in Zoetermeer. I've met great people using it and continue to be joining into nice events and hangouts. In Barcelona and now in Porto, it has been a bit more difficult to host, as I want to avoid troubling my flatmates with it.

Whatever the place, I will surely continue gaining great experiences from the community and I'm open for meetups with all sorts of people, at all sorts of events. Don't hesitate to ask for a couch, because I can always try to arrange something for you. Just drop a message.

Music, Movies, and Books

My personal music list mostly consists of hardrock and progressive rock, but enjoying music can be done as a generalist. My most notable favourite is The Dear Hunter.

I don't watch movies, no joke. I mean, sometimes with others. It's nice together, but alone I prefer a book.

I almost exclusively read nonfiction. Have a look on my Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/49770493-rik
