Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Rikin Shah, a technology, design, and business enthusiast, with a passion for the outdoors.
I'm a Chicagoan at heart, but transplanted to Austin to be the University of Texas at Austin Hook 'em!
I live, breathe, and dream business; for me it is just a way of thinking. To put it into context, when I was five years old I ripped flowers out of my mom’s garden and sold them on the sidewalk.
I am an outdoorsman at heart, I love camping, backpacking, bicycling, and everything in between. I love to travel and have visited every state with the exception of a handful.
In my free time, I love learning new things. I am often found lost in a good book or captivated by a great movie, including my favorite “The Aviator.” As a coffee aficionado I is constantly trying out new techniques and discovering new blends. While I isn’t much of a video game fan (though he still enjoys the classics), I am often found playing board games, including my favorite, Monopoly. If I am not doing any of the previously mentioned activities, chances are that I am contemplating new ideas for a business. Occasionally I also spend some of his time writing 3rd person biographies of himself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling and love meeting new people. So couchsurfing is the perfect blend. To be quite honest, I would much rather spend time meeting interesting people rather than sitting in a hotel room and watching CNN.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music I'm pretty open to anything. I fell in love with "The Aviator" upon watching it the first time and it has been my favorite ever since. When it comes to books, I love "The Great Gatsby" as cliche as it is, but I often find myself reading biographies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went on a three week long camping/road trip across the country covering seven national parks.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love sailing and have access to some of the UT Sailing Club boats on Lake Travis. I'd love to teach you how to sail!
Have a boat and want to learn to sail elsewhere. Let me crash with you and I'd be more than happy to show you the ropes!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share countless stories as well as advice for those interested in backpacking/camping.
