About Me

Hi, I'm Ricki Chen! Originally from China, I’ve found my home in the beautiful landscapes of Tasmania, Australia. My love for travel began at a very young age when I started exploring the world on my own at 13. This early start ignited my curiosity about different cultures and the way the world works. I'm deeply passionate about music, arts, politics, and economics, and I love engaging in meaningful conversations that delve into these topics.

Meeting new people and hearing their unique stories is something I treasure, as it broadens my perspective and deepens my understanding of the world. I’m an avid reader with a particular interest in history, and I find peace and inspiration in nature. Whether it’s hiking through Tasmania’s stunning wilderness or staying active with Pilates, the outdoors and mindfulness is where I feel most alive. I also have a love for photography, capturing the beauty of the places I visit and the moments I cherish. Through Couchsurfing, I’m excited to connect with people, share experiences and thoughts about life, and continue my journey of discovery.

Interests

Reading, listening to music, and watching movies are my go-to activities when I want to unwind, but I also love hitting the road to explore new places—whether it's uncovering a hidden gem in nature or discovering a charming café in town. As a big foodie, I’m always eager to try any kind of delicious food, believing that every meal is an adventure in itself.

Fitness plays a significant role in my life; I do Pilates 4-6 times a week. On weekends, I’m all about the outdoors, enjoying camping, sailing, fishing, bushwalking, and sharing a few drinks with friends. In recent years, since learning how to swim, I’ve become fascinated by the ocean’s beauty and its creatures, which led me to take up freediving. My dream is to swim with humpback whales and whale sharks. Whether it’s the excitement of a new discovery or the simple pleasures of good company, I’m always looking for ways to make the most of every moment.
