About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To backpack through Europe.
ABOUT ME
My name is Riley, and I love to travel (but who doesn't on this website). My last major expedition was with Semester at Sea, where I ventured to 13 countries in Asia and Africa. It was an incredible experience, and since then I have been stirring with wanderlust, anxious to get my feet on foreign ground again.
I love meeting new people. My favorite part of traveling has been the experiences I have had with the locals. I want to eat the food, learn the language, and do as the locals do.
I am crossing my fingers that I'll have my Bachelor's degree in English by the time I head to Europe! I currently work at a junior high, but I plan on pursuing graduate school and teaching English at university level.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I first signed up with Couchsurfing in 2010, I was not really able to participate in the Couchsurfing experience the way that I wanted to. I was young, living with my parents, and unable to afford any travelling on my own. Fortunately, I'm better able to participate now. I welcome guests to visit my home, and I hope to stay with many couchsurfers in the future!

I can't wait 'til I am able to fill this box up with memories!

Music, Movies, and Books
I personally aspire to be an Encyclopedia for music, books, and media. However, until then, a few of my favorite authors: Chuck Palahniuk, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, and recently Chuck Klosterman. Movies: Fight Club, The Departed, Breakfast Club, and Inception. Music: Portugal. The Man, Florence and the Machine, Arcade Fire, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived on a boat for 4 months. Every couple days we had a time change, and at one point we even passed the International Date Line. I guess that makes me a time traveler.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning the history and the culture of the places I visit. I've learned a lot through my travels, and I have stories to share and information to give. I'm eager to learn more, and hope that the people I meet along the way are like-minded.
