About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To REALLY live the peaks and troughs and carve one hell of a mountain range - we all know how beautiful these things are!

ABOUT ME

It seems us humans can take this life all too seriously (including me)- pedaling furiously on a mouse wheel, going around in circles, consuming, striving, reaching, pushing at intoxicating pace. I would like just to be still; to take in the beauty around me - the smiles, the warmth, the unfurling of a truly brilliant kaleidoscope of connection. And love? Well, I find this to be quite remarkable.

Oceans of emotion, a jigsaw jagged heart, borders uncrossed, mountains of possibility - as long as I see myself as human; I shall never know where I fit in...

I'm a sensitive soul, way too analytical, and I MUST get to the truth at all times (often to my detriment). Inquisitive and curious about this strange life :-)

PHILOSOPHY

I will always attempt to be a bar going, mountain shredding, trail blazing, music seeking, ocean swimming, bonfire dancing, star gazing kinda gal...I will definitely throw dinner parties for no-particular reason, give limitless hugs to those in need (or even just to those who want!), sleep when I want, eat what I want, work hard, smile lots, clean as I go, overindulge in chocolate, underindulge in criticism; wear heals less and flip-flops more, wear more sunscreen and less make-up, drive slower, pray harder, sing louder AND love deeper...this ladies and gentlemen, is my pledge to you :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet travellers and locals alike; attend some interesting events and expand myself to new things!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some amazing people through CS...it makes me happy to know there are like minded people out there to interact and engage with :-)

Interests

A woman with many hats!
These days I am spending my time buried in the books researching and writing up a thesis...joyfully fun and excrutiatingly painful all at the same time!
I love nature...mountains, the coast, forests...and any activity that immerses me in wilderness.
I'm a bit of a greeny - a silly little freak who actually believe that trees are my best friends and greatest teachers.
In fact, I love nature so much, my research project is environmentally oriented - I hope to change our views to nature one student at a time!
I love to move my body: running, yoga, dance.
I love to write...you can check this out if you'd like (you may actually learn more about me via this!): http://katscompass.wordpress.com/.
I will always be the one staring out the window, daydreaming and pondering the world; I love to explore, play, day-dream, be creative, cook all kinds of feasts, and to socialise with the odd glass of wine (or 2...) ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Madrugada (Sivert Hoyem), Jack White, Angus and Julia Stone, Laura Marling, Ryan Adams, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Keaton Henson, Tijuana Cartel, The Boxer Rebellion...a pretty endless list...

Books: Paulo Cohello is an amazing philosopher and author and I like his books; Kerouac, Osho, Muir, Thoreau, Leopold - all the great nature writers and philosophers :-)

Movies:Into the Wild, Eternal Sunshine for a Spotless Mind, Tony Gatliff flicks...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nature never, ever ceases to amaze me. My one saving grace when sitting in Melbourne peak hour traffic is the memories of deep powder trails under my snowboard (in North America and definitely not experienced in Australia!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Vegetarian cooking!

Any Spanish speakers who want to help me refine my poor attempts at bi-lingualness - I want to meet you!

Some poetry (eeeeek!)
