About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a way to get back to Japan!

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in a small town in Wyoming (USA) about 30 miles from Yellowstone National Park. I grew up around wildlife and it wasn't strange to have a grizzly bear in my back yard.

I finished college in Wyoming and moved to San Francisco to get my Masters Degree. I now work for a University in San Francisco as a web designer and spend my spare time enjoying this awesome city.

PHILOSOPHY

Even if you fall flat on your face, you're still moving forward.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Had a great first experience couch surfing in Japan and am looking to repay the favor to some travelers in San Francisco. My roommates and I work / go to school during the week, so if you stay with us then, we may not be very exciting, but on the weekend, there's always something going on in this city!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with Mo-Chan in Japan and had a great time. He took a group of us to a festival where we got to pound rice into mochi, went to a tea ceremony, relaxed in an onsen, saw Mt. Fuji, had a picnic on a beach, and then cooked us a dynamite dinner and partied with us. Absolutely fantastic experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

Sonnets to Orpheus, Paradise Lost, Skeptical Environmentalist, anything by Haruki Murakami or Italo Calvino, Rolling Stones, Japanese Taiko ... I'll stop now or this will never end.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went swimming in the ocean in Antarctica.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'm a decent cook. Not going to win any awards, but I really enjoy it and I love to try cooking new things (especially from other cultures). I have pretty good knowledge about poetry and literature and a general curiosity that flares up anytime I hear someone talk about something they're passionate about.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antarctica, Belgium, Cambodia, China, Denmark, France, Ireland, Japan, Morocco, Netherlands, Peru, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
