ABOUT ME

I live alone in a 3 bedroom house and work on a freezing trawler in the north Atlantic. That meens I have around 30 days off at a time so i have plenty time to travel. Been travelling 1-4 times a year for the last 15 years or since i went to stay on a kibutz in Israel and met travellers from all around the world. On my travels I have met some extraordinary people. People who have helped me a great deal with out asking anything in stead.That makes me wanna go the extra mile when I can help travellers.
Til now its mainly been by picking up hitchikers and giving good advice if I can, so when I heard of couchsurfing,com I thought it would be an exellent way to step my game up a bit.

Here I decided to put some work related excuses,

Because of my work im not always connected to the Internet and sometimes not for a long periods.

Because of my work it can be very hard for me to know exactly when Im home, especially with a long advange.

This does not mean that you cant send me requests in advance Im just posting this so you dont think im rude if you dont get an answer quickly, I answer all requests but sometimes its way to late.

Because of my work I can usually arrange last minute couches if Im at shore so if u need a host in Neskaupsstaður to day or to morrow you can always try to reach me on my mobile 8612997

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just missed my first surfers, their plan changed and i was still at sea when they arrived. Managed to hook them up with some friends tho, and from their experience I´m looking forward to be able to host someone while I´m at shore.
I have hosted a few CSers and it has always been a plesure.

Music, Movies, and Books

it would be a very long list.
I listen to all kinds of music, from death metal to classical but if i had to pick out something to mention it had to be Nick Cave, David Bowie and Johnny Cash. Currently im listening mostly to the XX album.
Lately XX havent found its way as often on my playlist but I find my self listening more and more to what I listened to as a teenager, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and similar stuff. I can almost say that a day dosent pass with out Led Zeppelin 4 playing at least one song on my stereo.
Im a big fan of terry pratchett but read all kinds of books
I see movies as good way to kill time and of course some are better than others but if i had to pick a few movies i like I would have to mention Cohen Brothers and Woody Allen I usually like theyre movies. Into the wild was also a movie I was touched by.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once watched a little girl, probably 5-6 yrs old in Darjeeling India getting water for her family, I watched her for at least 45 min going up steep steps crossing railroad tracks to climb some more steps with 5ltr. container in each hand. I saw her go at least 4 runs, once with two older girls, once with a girl about same age as her and twice alone, but what I remember most and will probably never forget is how happy she seemed, always smiling and very joyful.
I often wonder how her life will turn out
