CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying life.
ABOUT ME
Whereever I go, there I am; at the moment I am in Portland! I moved here about two years ago after finishing a master's degree in Switzerland. In Switzerland, I was studying international development, a field in which I have worked since finishing undergraduate (a number of years ago at this point!). I'm a former Peace Corps Volunteer (in Mali), with an interest in agriculture and agricultural development. Currently working for a humanitarian organization.
PHILOSOPHY
Acceptance, open-mindedness, and understanding. Do unto others ... and all that
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have mostly used couchsurfing to meet up with people while traveling, and have had some good experiences. Couch surfers are usually interesting people :)
Interests
Agriculture (check out Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms - I'm a former WWOOFer), speaking/reading/learning French, and long-distance bike riding are probably my major interests in recent years. I also enjoy hiking and being outdoors (though I need to do this more!), cooking and seeing some good music once in a while. I've been hanging out at the rock gym lately as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: My favorite book when I was a kid was the Alanna series from Tamora Pierce, about a lady knight. I had a big fantasy novel phase in high school. In recent years I tend to enjoy nonfiction and/or books by international authors.
Music, all kinds! Becoming less and less prejudiced here and loving it. (Although, okay, it is true that I have a weakness for folk/indie music.)
Movies: Tendency towards indie and foreign films though I enjoy a good blockbuster as well. All-time favorites: Singing in the Rain, Sense and Sensibility, Four Weddings and a Funeral.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have seen a camel running down the National Mall in Washington, DC.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, I hope :) If you happen to parler some français, I'd love to practice. If there's time, I'm happy to cook dinner as well.
