ABOUT ME
I'm a 30-year-old English teacher/fiddler/hurdy-gurdy player from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
I'm basically interested in music and in people who love music. I play in Café Irlanda, an Irish trad band formed right here in Rio de Janeiro.
I love reading, talking, writing and well, drinking.
I've lived in Rio my whole life, in an island, actually. It sounds a bit romantic and all, but it's just a district like any other.
I'm here because I've been leaving the country regularly (this can be highly addictive).
PHILOSOPHY
"Everything exists, everything is true and the earth is just a bit of dust beneath our feet."
â William Butler Yeats
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hm. I can indicate some really cool couches here in Rio - I can offer mine too, but I live in a rather distant part of town.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One, and it was quite a bummer. Got stood up for hours in London and got back to sleep at the airport. That was in 2014.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After a two-year wait and lots of e-mails, I crossed the Atlantic for the first time in 2011 to (in theory) play with my band in a festival in Dublin. Truth is I went there just to spend one - yes, one - day in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, to get my hurdy-gurdy and have my first lesson on how to play it. Every trip I have ever taken has been propelled by the hurdy-gurdy and people who play it. I could write a book about that day in 2011, but having been to France to get to know even more about this instrument and it's long forgotten world was even more surreal. That was, withouth a shadow of a doubt, the most amazing thing I ever did. I 'd never gone so far in order to realise a dream.
But amongst the most beautiful things I've ever seen, I'd mention the sunrise seen from the Arpoador, here in Rio. Glendalough, in Ireland. Le Mont St. Michel, in France - that was just surreal. Also, Dulin city late at night during Halloween. What a vibe... And finally, taking the ferry from Flüelen to Lucern, in Switzerland. That was incredible.
My last trips were to Germany for a weekend (!) once and again to get a new instrument. I stayed in Munich and got to Kirchzarten, a lively tiny town in Bavaria. And finally in 2016 I was in Ireland for basically one month, got to visit a dear friend in Donegal, attend many sessions, play with and meet new people and watch The Corrs. Twice. lol
Teach, Learn, Share
There are no such things as monkeys and snakes jumping around in Rio's streets.
You can find violence anywhere, as you can find love just the same.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer good music, French lessons and I can help out with the housework :)
