About Me

I am half Australian half Kiwi, living in Sweden! I'm a PhD student in Political Science, run my own blog and copywriting business on the side and am learning to speak Russian.

My personal philosophy is simple and straightforward: JUST DO IT!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have couchsurfed in Gothenburg, Sweden during the Way out West festival and in Munich, Germany during Oktoberfest. To me couchsurfing epitomises what travelling is all about - the connections you make with people from completely different worlds, hospitality, cooking meals together, and learning tidbits of information about different places and cultures.

Interests

Travel, international politics, landscape photography, learning new languages, meeting interesting people, food (especially Vietnamese), working with kids, Scandinavia, baking chocolate cakes...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Four standout travel experiences for me, it is impossible to pick just one:
1, Battambang, Vietnam: speeding down a road in the middle of nowhere on the back of a motorbike with a person I had just met, not knowing where I was going. I ended up in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life.
2, New Zealand: road tripping with my family through the South Island's incredible landscapes.
3, New York: standing in Times Square around midnight with all the lights and people and craziness and feeling so small and insignificant, yet somehow also a part of everything.
4. Standing beneath the Northern Lights outside Reykjavik in Iceland

Teach, Learn, Share

It's all about quality, not quantity. Spend longer in one place instead of trying to see 5 different ones. This is something I've learned from experience!

Sometimes the biggest adventures lie in your own backyard - don't forget to explore and appreciate what's around you because travel doesn't need to take you far from home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, suggestions on where to visit in Karlstad, English and Swedish conversation (and limited Russian!), travel stories, easygoing and friendly discussion about a range of topics.
