Overview
About Me
I am an expatriate Hungarian musician and teacher of music, currently dwelling in the famous Dutch capital, Amsterdam.
I graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory as a bass guitarist (yes, it's the long-necked electric one) 2 years ago and since then I picked up the habit of occasional low-cost travelling and adventures (both in music and non-music related ways).
I am a moderately nerdy girl who enjoys gazing at maps and atlases, reading about Psychology and the ways of ancient people (obscure Neolithic settlements are my favourite). I often write songs about these topics and the worldly wonders I see elsewhere. I am a lifelong fan of the British Isles, so I make sure I visit them as soon as I have a bit of spare time and money!
During the year I am working, performing and teaching kids in Amserdam: I have a different job every day, so to speak. While it sounds very diverse and entertaining, this periodic way of living does get a little boring at times, especially in the Winter when it gets so very dark here. That's when I break the routine by visiting this and that, here and there!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I pretty much only travel when I have someone local to visit. I invented a word for this: opportourism.
One reason for this is obviously financial, but it also has a socio-cultural aspect: I firmly believe that locked up in hotel rooms half of the information you would learn about your destination gets lost. Getting to know the local way of living, absorbing the local flavours and accents is what makes travelling - forgive me for the annoying buzzwords - such a "life transforming learning experience".
The people I used to visit in different countries were mostly distant acquaintances at first, but they often turned into friends by the end of the journey. Even if we drifted apart after the trip, I will sure never forget them, their homes and the recipes they taught me!
I decided to give Couchsurfing a try because of my unbelievably surreal and educational experiences with said accross-the-room friends. If it works out well as a traveller, I might even consider becoming a host in Amsterdam. We will see what this little experiment brings!

Music, Movies, and Books
Dedicated fan of British prog-rock-punk cult band, Cardiacs. (I also play in a band that covers their music. Way too much fun.)
I strongly identify with Mr. Bean's problem-solving strategies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I survived 5 weeks on a gigantic cruiseship on the North Sea as a lounge musician.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook some simple, but wicked tasty Hungarian recipes. I am also very self-sufficient when it comes to travelling...I lose my way a lot but somehow I always get out of trouble!
