About Me

CURRENT MISSION

dance, sing, and figure out the rest :)

ABOUT ME

I am a creative person, trying to understand herself within an internal & external confusion; a body that does not want to give up the media; a meeting of idealism and pragmatism, enthusiasm and cynicism. I am open to creative cooperation, but tend to have all encompassing visions; I love working with groups, but also need my time alone. In short, a tangle, like we all are. :)

I like working with people; when I am not a leader, I'll support a good one (knowing how much work THAT is) and challenge a bad one (cause I can't stand bad leadership & management - people are too precious to waste their talents on someone's ineptitude or power trips). I'm interested in how group roles are created, and how they can stay challenging, as opposed to stifling and defining the people who fulfil them; idea of egalitarian and fair groups also intrigues me. I am not always assertive, but am pro- idea of people asserting themselves in space and acting on their rights. Right now I am not an active participant, because I have no local community whose concerns I know intimately; I observe, though.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to create and change my my life by changing my outlook of it, but I realize that it mostly happens in reverse :). I try to understand how my current understanding came about, too. :) As a person, I am always in progress, and that describes my philosophy as well. I learn to live, and live to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly surf, often I am not a comfortable situation to host (rooming with nonCSers, moving from place to place and the like). I have started to go to nearby CS events, and even organized one - I love me some dancing, and some fellow CSers do, as well. I also managed to go to Prague, last minute arrangement that it was, so maybe there are other ways I will engage in CS soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with few people, and am not the most experienced couch-surfer ever ;) Maybe I will change that :)

Interests

Art and life, the two colliding. Reading (be it poetry, fantasy or other novels, most especially fanfiction), writing, singing, dancing, acting, feminism, queer, a bit of psychology... some of those are things I have done intensively in the past, now moved to backburner, others - in present. I am a budding artist/creative professional.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately - "Pina" (movies about dancing in general), "Even the rain", I also wait for "The Hobbit" and new "Batman" as the geek I am ;) Books: I've just re-read McIntyre's "The Sun and the Moon" in English, and Osho's "Intimacy", I am in the middle of "Politics of literature" (a Polish book), "Who stole feminism", "Literature and media" (also Polish), and some poetry antologies. Music: lately Funk'n'stein, Armand Amar, Jamie Cullum, Asa, Dikanda, Kashmere Stage Band. Personal idols: currently, Slavoj Żiżek, Tim Minchin, Henry Jenkins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I finished and defended my thesis - writing itself took little more than a month. Believe me, it really seems amazing right now, and had seemed impossible before...! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I sometimes teach English or Polish, I can walk someone through some acting exercises (breathing, voice and body exercises). I used to play the piano, don't know if I could teach anyone... I do know notes, intervals and such.
Learning - languages are always interesting, as is dance and songs. :) I also enjoy being pushed outside my discipline, which is humanities - i.e. economy can be particularly challenging and thus, fun. :)
