About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning by doing. The world is the classroom, the people I meet, the teachers.

ABOUT ME

Currently adjusting to some very flat land... I live in a lovely community of open minded people. Feeling foreign at home.
I was a volunteer with a farmers cooperative project in Southern Africa, Malawi, a couple years back and I've stayed on in the organization. I'm working with new groups of volunteers going to Africa and Latin America. Yes, I have a job that makes me feel good, and it keeps me moving.

PHILOSOPHY

Having fun is most important. live and let live. We all share a beautiful planet, be nice to her!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed quite a bit by now, am always so amazed and grateful at the human spirit each time I leave a house of a stranger turned family. I've also hosted just a bit - I live in a great situation where even if i'm not around at the school someone almost always is and anyone and everyone are always welcome. We're just quite off the beaten path and don't get much traffic or travelers but if you're passing through... we're about halfway between Chicago and Detroit

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Music, Movies, and Books

too much. music is the only real answer to most questions and each book is a whole vacation and learning experience in itself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

8 months in the bush in Malawi. No water/electricity. Cooking on charcoal, starting fires with a plastic bag. 80 year old women and 10 year old girls working harder, every day of their lives than I've ever had to work in mine. I came back feeling as if someone had taken out my brain and replaced it with a new one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing experiences. learning and teaching languages, music, philosophy, ideas. i've been around a little...
