Overview
About Me
Hi there, my name is Rivan, a solo traveler from Indonesia. I just graduated from university, and right now, I'm freelancing as a graphic designer in Malang.
As a child, i used to be a scaredy cat, and didn't have the guts to do almost everything alone. It all suddenly changed few years ago. Since then, I've traveled to some places overseas by myself, such as Singapore, Australia and Japan. I have a very high interest on culture, history, society, food and art. I also have high interest in nature, especially forests and mountains. I don't know why, but I couldn't really enjoy beaches and sea.
I like to meet new people, learn new things and get a bunch of incredible experiences. And traveling did help me to achieve it. My hobby is photography, graphic design, drawing, music and sport. My goal is to continue my study abroad, especially in Japan, and also start my own business in digital and graphic design. And also, travel more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is really helpful, especially if you are a solo traveler. This way, i could meet a lot of interesting people from different countries. I also have so much interest in culture and language, and i think living with the locals is the best way to learn those things. I could also teach them about my culture and my language. So, why not?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to Japan for the first time alone. I stayed for 5 weeks and i volunteered in a small hospitality business in Osaka, in exchange for free accomodation. I went to so amazing places, and met amazing people along the way. That was a crazy experience and i really love every second i spent in Japan.
I went to Australia for the first time (2014) by myself for 1 month, and i only had 3 weeks to prepare my trip. I studied for 3 weeks at the University of Canberra and spent 1 week at the Indonesian Embassy for internship. It was epic!
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to become a polyglot so i could travel around the world without worrying about the language barriers.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have so much interest in language and culture, maybe i can teach you some of my culture and language. If english is your 2nd language, i could also teach you a little bit of English.
If you have interest with graphic design, drawing (especially digital drawing), and photography, we could learn together.
I cook, i play musical instruments, and i also like to help other people. So, just ask :)
