About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live gently and kindly, to spread smiles and love life.

ABOUT ME

Travelers, friends, wonderers. We enjoy our little corner of the Earth, and love our time away from it, especially to the sea. It's the place we rest and garden and nurture ideas, and read about the places that call.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Erin and I have been hosting surfers for several years, and in fall 2013 finally had the chance to stay with another host. Both are great ways to participate in this community

PLEASE- no last-minute requests! Our relatively poor response rate is generated by last-minute requests, which we are unlikely to be able to accommodate.

Give us a week or more notice, and be assured we'll get back to you!

Interests

Mine are fish, gardening, travel, nature, social justice, music, learning about new things...

Erin is a songwriter and singer, but her day job is protecting wetlands, some of out most imperiled and underappreciated places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago while traveling in Mexico we visited one of the monarch butterfly reserves. After a long hike up a mountain, surrounded by butterflies the entire time, we crossed a small ridge and took a narrow trail above the valley on the other side, where we were greeted by millions of butterflies. They weighed down boughs of trees, they made the turnks look scales, they speckled the sky. We listened to the wind gently blowing through the valley, and then realized it wasn't wind we heard, but the sound of millions of butterflies flapping their wings.

We can tell people about it, even show photos or a little video, but nothing can do the experience justice.
