ABOUT ME
Profile 2.0
I was told that my profile made me seem conservative (I must have really misrepresented myself!), so I'm trying again.
I'm a very open person, and I love to talk to strangers. If you know something about something, I will gladly be your captive audience.
I've lived in Japan for three years, and have enjoyed having guests stay with me many times through a separate program. I decided to join CouchSurfing to open my home to even more guests, and it's been a wonderful experience.
I speak Japanese and have a lot of hobbies which keep me very busy, but I will be leaving Japan on August 5th of 2010 to go back to the United States for graduate school.
PHILOSOPHY
Music works because people's brains are wired similarly, and can thus understand it similarly. The purpose of music is to convey a musical phrase from one person to the other, but the instruments, the performers, the weather, the amplifiers, the weather, and even your thoughts, add a lot of interference. The goal for listeners is to appreciate music with as little interference as possible, and the goal for artists is to create it with as little interference possible. That's why people want louder music, higher fidelity speakers, and higher quality instruments-- they're closer to what the artist had in mind when they thought up the music in their head.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I share my couch (futons) with lots of other people. I haven't stayed with anyone else yet, but I would like to, someday.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My most unexpected guest was probably a coworker from a job in a different country four years prior, who e-mailed me, not knowing who I was. Until we saw each other at the door, we had no idea that we already knew each other.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once spent 6 hours of work on a cake. I once saw a scorpion giving birth. I once saved a drowning little girl on the same day I pushed a friend to safety from a car hanging off a cliff. I once fell asleep at the top of Inariyama in Kyoto.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be excited to teach cooking, brewing, and guitar, and also to learn them in more depth.
