About Me

I'm a piano technician in New Orleans who dabbles in bicycle framebuilding, accordion repair, and crafting of all kinds.

Take a look at some of the piano work I do at nolapiano.com

PHILOSOPHY

Everything will work out if you let it. Stress never helped anyone.

When I have personal dilemmas about whether or not I should do something, I like to ask myself the question "Why not?" and then go ahead and do it without bothering to answer myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Lately I've been doing most of my hosting offline. Working at a non-profit bike shop is good for that... lots of bike tourists come through.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in New Orleans.

Danced to Michael Jackson during a huge bonfire on a completely isolated mountain monastery with jump-roping Taiwanese Buddhist monks with super-sketchy fireworks going off all around while the pizza delivery guy was rolling up. Brewed kombucha. Attended a Really Really Free Market. Shared love with another human being. Gone scuba diving in underwater caves. Danced at a music festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Surfed the T in Boston. Remained silent for 10 days straight. Cooked for 160 people for 10 days straight. Participated in a Flash Mob Freeze. Hitchhiked. Lived in a Taiwanese Buddhist monastery for a month. Held a spontaneous pillow fight with 100 other people in downtown San Diego. Played in an improvised PVC-pipe-instrument parade. Rafted down class 4 rapids. Rode Critical Mass around 2 different state capitols (running count). Had a giant sea turtle emerge from the sands beneath me. Juggled through a revolving door. Free dived off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Listened to "Here Comes The Sun" during a northern Illinois sunrise while driving 6 hours back from a Radiohead show in St. Louis. Picked a tomato and ate it. Taught myself piano, guitar, juggling, poi, slack-line. Snowboarded from the top of a Rocky mountain to the bottom entirely through heavy woods. Driven a houseboat down the Mississippi river. Peeled peppers & barely touched my eye & consequently rolled around on the ground in pain for 20 minutes. Skydived over Lake Michigan. Slept in a flying saucer. Stood on top of Salvation Mountain. Made $13 per hour juggling/hula hooping at a farmer's market. Dumpster dived an entire vegan pumpkin pie. Danced with Pilobolus. Lived at an ashram in British Columbia. Assembled my own bicycle out of all scrap parts. Built a bicycle frame from scratch

Teach, Learn, Share

I really really love teaching my passions to people. If we spend any time together, I'll probably try to teach you juggling, piano repair, plumbing. How to make certain fermented foods (Kimchi!!!). How to fix your bicycle. How to create a collapsible hula hoop! How to tie a monkeys-fist knot! How to crochet anything you will ever need (hats, backpacks, scarves, headbands, anklets, poi handles!)

Please teach me about sailboats/sailing. Please teach me to play fiddle.
