About Me

Hi, I'm Romance. I'm a 27 year old French expatriate living in Yokohama, Japan.
French teacher by profession, and poet by passion.

I've been lucky enough to travel the world and live in another country, discovering another culture and getting to know new people is a daily enrichment.

For me, travel rhymes with language, so I dedicate a lot of my time to learning languages: Spanish, English, Arabic!

Very sociable and curious, couchsurfing is an incredible way for me to meet new people and make great friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered couchsurfing by first hosting people at my house and my boyfriend, through his account. Mexicans, Chileans, Colombians, French... In particular, we hosted people during the difficult period of the pandemic. This enabled me to travel from home. A real breath of fresh air.
After that, we traveled together: to France, Spain and Mexico!

Receiving and being received were unforgettable experiences, which I hope to continue, this time on my own!

Music, Movies, and Books

I especially love reading. Not a day goes by that I don't read. My current novel is called Azteca, and it's a great way to find out more about Mexico's history.
At the moment, I'm also listening to a lot of music, French variety. It's a good way of reminding me of my country.
I love talking about literature and discovering new music.

Music: Supertramp, Daftpunk, Françoise Hardy

Film : Le tableau de la jeune fille en feu, The Office

Books : Martin Eden, LONDON, Le comte de Montecristo, Balzac.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Expatriating to Mexico is one of my greatest adventures. It's a journey that never ends. On a daily basis, through the food, the music, my roommate Andrés (an 81-year-old Mexican).
Occasionally, by criss-crossing the vastness of the country. The beach, the mountains, the deserts. I never tire of it!

Teach, Learn, Share

As a French teacher, I would be delighted to teach you my language if you wish.

As an amateur cook, I can also share delicious recipes with you (French or Mexican).

Passionate about music, I'd be delighted to share my tastes with you and discover yours.

As for what I'd like to learn: everything! I'm curious and I think that life's surprises lie in the little things and the simple moments. Chatting, walking down a street, drinking a coffee, going to a museum! Just having a good time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm passionate about my job as a teacher because I love teaching, sharing my knowledge and culture, while learning a lot about my students and their passions.

Passionate about literature, I'm also passionate about the lives of the people around me, who inspire me. I like to contribute my point of view when asked. I like to compare cultures, without ever judging them.

So I'd be delighted to share my most beautiful stories and the saddest, listen to yours over a coffee, tea, ice cream or beer.

I'm also always up for discovering the nooks and crannies of the places I visit, be they natural or urban. If you're interested.

As a vegetarian, I'd also be delighted to cook you a nice dinner.
