About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To run, travel, think, run, meditate, and give my way to a better life

ABOUT ME

When I travel, I really want a sense of what that place is like, how the people think, and what sorts of ordinary things fill their lives. You don't get that in hotels or even hostels. I'm keen to get a sense of daily life and the people in the community.

PHILOSOPHY

There's no such thing as too much pumpkin pie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started hosting visitors in 2010 while living in Denver, Colorado; now moved on to Honolulu, Hawaii and happy to share once again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Everyone I've met through couchsurfing has been terrific. Genuinely welcoming people, open to different experiences and respectful of each other's time and space.

Interests

Professionally, I've been a historian, teacher, IT guy, and project manager. Each career has represented some part of me, and I enjoy it all.

I'm athletically-inclined, with special interests in running, volleyball, soccer, snowboarding, and surfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting Alex Trebec in Vatican City was pretty cool. But then I also loved watching the US beat Algeria on a last minute goal in the World Cup, and seeing all of the Big Five animals (lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and rhinosaurus) on safari in Botswana.

But great things happen at home too, like being at Barack Obama's nomination in 2008 or when I finished my first marathon in 2010.
