About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I love to learn about other cultures. The only thing better than having them in my living room would be going to their country.

ABOUT ME
I'm the rare breed of a native Los Angeleno. I was born in a hospital in Bellflower, raised in Cerritos while going to St. John Bosco High School, and had solid crews in Long Beach and Downey. After college, I came home and moved to Pasadena, where I've been since 2001. I also love all things aviation. I'm fascinated by flight attendants, and have had so many great experiences aboard those gigantic metal structures hurling through the skies - sometimes better than the destination. My place is euphemistically called "The Flight Deck".

New Update: I might be one of the few that truly got a benefit from Couchsurfing. On November 23, I took the commitment of marriage to my life partner and friend I made through this platform, Andrew Max.

PHILOSOPHY
If you want it, go and get it. If you don't get it, it's simply because you didn't want it enough.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy hosting. It is a privilege to interact with people from all over the world. I have become friends with most of my couchsurfers here and on other social media, and enjoy reading their stories in their continued journeys - whether back home or abroad. While I never saw it as a reciprocating feature, I was amazed at how many of my guests had offered to host me when I showed up in their country.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music spans the board. If it sounds good, I'll like it. Extra points awarded for music that has substance, or for the beauty of the artist.

The movies Indecent Proposal and Pretty Woman taught me a lot about love. You certainly can't buy it, but you sure as hell can rent it for a while.

I will read anything by Carl Hiassen, and have read all of Andy Rooney's books except one.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I turned down an offer for 350 camels for my wife when I was in Egypt.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As someone who has only hosted, the only thing I can offer hosts are the stories of the many great couchsurfers who have enriched my life by staying at the Flight Deck.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Macao, Mexico, Philippines, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand
