About Me

My apartment is right in the heart of Bangkok (near Nana BTS), with tons of malls, restaurants, bars and nightlife nearby...you can't beat the location! My end of the street is quiet with no through traffic, but you will be right in the center of Sukhumvit where all the action is.

I'm an English-born, Aussie citizen now based in beautiful Thailand. I'm single, open-minded and living alone - so I'm free to meet new people and enjoy any adventure that comes my way. Will you be my new buddy?

One of my couchsurfing guests, Bell Tran from Vietnam, says:

"Rob is a superhost...we became very good friends." Here is her video review of her stay with me:

I'm open to meeting interesting individuals and making friends from different parts of our wonderful planet. I love that we live in a world of such diversity, and I'm keen to meet you, whatever your nationality and cultural background.

I'm perhaps the world's first digital nomad, and love exploring the amazing world we live in. But Bangkok is my home base...because Thailand is such a fantastic country to experience. Every day here is a new adventure. My four grown-up children live in different countries around the world, but we meet up often in exotic places.

I've had some great experiences with my couchsurfing guests, many of whom I stay in touch with on Facebook, Instagram, etc. I'm looking forward to adding you to my friends' lists!

I consider every new day to be a gift, especially when I can share it with special friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have couchsurfed myself on several continents and received a warm welcome from all my hosts. So now I would like to help other people out in the same way.

If you are traveling through BKK, I'd be happy to offer you a bed and make your stay in Bangkok a time to cherish forever.

I can give you advice on where to go and what to do so that you make the most of your time. And if want a partner to share your adventures with, I'm up for that, too. Traveling is so much more fun when you have two to tango.

Andre, my couchsurfing guest from Brazil, says about his stay:

"Rob treated us like we were part of his family. ..unbelievably generous and easygoing guy...if you have the chance to meet Rob, don't lose it! "

Weird but interesting facts: I'm a trained venomous snake handler, a baby fruit bat carer, a skydiver, a published author and the former Public Speaking Champion of South-East Asia. I'm also a
tenor saxophonist, songwriter and half-marathon runner. Next up, I'm working on learning Muay Thai boxing and scuba diving. Oh, and did I mention that I compete in the Air Guitar Championships?

Interests

I work out six times a week at the gym, on the running track and on the cycle paths. I completed my first half marathon last year, and am now setting my sights on the full marathon. I am also learning Muay Thai boxing...ouch!

I've been playing guitar in bands for many years, and love music of all kinds. I speak at Toastmasters and perform stand-up comedy in Bangkok and other places around South-East Asia. I also do improv, which is a great creative challenge! At heart, I'm a writer - and I still write almost every day, either professionally or just for the fun of being creative.

I travel regularly and love to visit interesting places. And I am always ready to take part in any activity that sounds like it might be fun, or a chance to meet interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Pulp Fiction, The Blues Brothers, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, The Witches of Eastwick

Books: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Miracle Morning, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin

Music: All sorts - from classic rock to funk and soul. I'm working hard on learning a few rock guitar solos, so I can jam with the fantastic bands that play in bars all over Thailand.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a whole new life after my divorce, relocating to Thailand to start a wonderful and amazing phase in my life. I love the freedom of being single and able to do what I want with anyone I want.

I feel fitter, happier and more energized than in any other time in my life, and I'm looking forward to many more inspiring experiences.

So now I'm ready for the next big adventure...are you ready to share it with me?

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach people how to build a successful business as an Amazon seller:

I am also a successful Amazon seller myself, and an experienced online entrepreneur. I am a mentor to several speakers at Toastmasters. I have been making money online whilst traveling for over 20 years.

Do you want to escape your rotten day job and build an online business that gives you true financial and location freedom? Come and stay with me and we can chat about it...free advice that could change your life!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Having lived in Thailand for 5 years, I can be your guide to both Bangkok and the many wonderful places to visit around the country. I will show you where to go to have the best time, how to get the best value for money, and how to see the real Thailand (not just the tourist hot spots.)

And if you want a mate to share the experience, I would love to come along for the ride, I have taken my previous couchsurfers cycling on Bang Krachao, touring temples in Ayutthaya and even motorbiking through the mountains from Chiang Mai to Pai (put that trip on your bucket list...it's awesome!)

So where can I take you on your trip?
