Hello! My name is Robert, and I'm an 18 year old freshman in college. I grew up near the shore of southern New Jersey in a town called Linwood, but recently I've moved to midwestern South Bend, Indiana to continue my studies. I'm currently undecided on my major but I've narrowed it down to math, economics, finance, English, philosophy, Liberal Studies, and Physics. Well maybe I haven't narrowed it down that much... but I'll figure it out!

I firmly believe that traveling is the most rewarding experience that one can have. Between meeting exciting people, learning about new cultures, and engaging in local activities, traveling teaches more than can be learned from classes and in books while leading to amazing and fun adventures. I'm on Couchsurfing specifically because while I am a young and poor college student, the cost of staying at hotels is a little bit outside of my budget. In addition, staying with a local family offers a much more intimate and personal experience compared to staying at a hotel, and I look forward to hopefully meeting many great host families.

Interesses

I love music, new experiences, and the outdoors. I've played both the guitar and the piano for many years. I'm always looking for new music to listen to or learn, and live bands to see. Wherever I travel, I'm looking for cool new places or things I can do that I've never done before. Exploring an unfamiliar place may be daunting for many, but I view it as an opportunity to discover something unforgettable. Also, I've always been a fan of outdoor activities. Visiting the national parks of the United States is one of my favorite things to do. Whether it's a run, bike ride, hike, or a casual walk, I won't turn down the chance to surround myself in nature.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Favorite Music- I usually listen to rock/prog rock music, but I'm open to many styles. Some of my favorite bands include Porcupine Tree, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alter Bridge, Eddie Vedder, and more. On the lighter side, I always love to listen to piano pieces from Chopin, Listz, and Debussy.

Favorite Movies- I'm not a huge fan of movies, but Into The Wild, Boyhood, and Moonrise Kingdom are three movies I've recently watched that I enjoyed.

Favorite Books- My favorite book is Steppenwolf by my favorite author Hermann Hesse. Some other books that I love include Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, and so on.

The most amazing thing I have ever done was drive across the country with my best friend during the summer of 2014. Starting from Ocean City, New Jersey we drove all of the way to Vancouver/Seattle and back, visiting Glacier National park, the Tetons, Chicago, along with many other stops on the way.
