About Me
Positive vibes only. Foodie. Nature lover. Open relationship. 420 friendly.
Hi there! I'm Rob! I have a deep passion for food and the importance it plays in culture and bringing people together. Trust me... If you meet me it won't be long before I'm excitedly talking about some sort of food experience I've had or are looking forward to having.
Things I love: trying new food, cooking food, talking about food, dreaming about food... okay, I'll stop. I also love yoga, hiking, meditation, films, wandering aimlessly through new cities, a cup of coffee or tea with a view, open-minded people, singing terribly to music in my car, exercise, dancing the night away, engaging conversations over a drink or smoke, and more!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a very easy going person who is most excited about trying amazing food from all over the world, exploring beautiful cultural, historic, and nature sites, going on unconventional adventures away from the super touristy stuff, having deep conversations about anything really, hiking, and occasionally dancing like a fool late into the night :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to a huge diversity of music genres (not much country though). I really enjoy soundtrack/orchestra/instrumental music for study/chill. Electronic music (techno is my love) if I'm feeling dancy or upbeat. Rap/Hip Hop if I want to pretend that I'm cool. A few artists I've enjoyed recently: Charlotte de Witte, Kendrick Lamar, JID, Urem, Metallica, Mac Miller, System of a Down, Øneheart, L'Impératrice, Purple Disco Machine, Zhu, Noah Kahan, Nora en Pure
Movies: I mostly like anything that's well-done. I make an effort to watch as many nominees for the Academy Awards Best Picture as I can. I'm much more likely to enjoy an indie/foreign film over some huge blockbuster (but there are obviously exceptions). Some of my favorite directors: Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, Bong Joon Ho, David Lynch, Paul Thomas Anderson... Some of my favorite movies: Her, The Witch, Interstellar, Ex Machina, Inception, The Dark Knight, Amelie, The Prestige, Joker (I like the joker character as you can tell), The Lord of the Rings (trilogy).
Books: I'm sad to say that I don't get to read nearly as much as I'd like to. When I do read, I prefer to read thought provoking and conceptual non-fiction books about sociology/psychology, anthropology and human behavior, memoirs, meditation and spirituality, etc. But I also enjoy a really good fiction book if it can hook me early enough. Some non-fiction books I've read lately: Sapiens, Homo Deus, Waking Up, Meditations, Educated, Hillbilly Elegy, Tomorrow's Table (reading now). Some fiction books I love: Harry Potter series, Eragon (the series), Lord of the Rings, anything by Kurt Vonnegut.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I backpacked Europe solo for a month after graduating from Clemson. It was incredible to meet other travelers at hostels and connect in such a meaningful way, despite barely knowing them. That's what I'm hoping happens on here too!
I also went on 3ish month backpacking trip across Asia (right before COVID shut everything down). I can't wait to get back out there!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a ton about food and why things taste, look, or feel a certain way. I can teach you what different ingredients in foods are providing in terms of flavor or functionality.
I'm eager to learn more about other ways of life. I'm also super interested to hear perspectives on issues that I think a lot about.
I am loving life in San Francisco and can host or meetup with other Couchsurfers interested in visiting the area. I'm always down for quirky and off-the-beaten path adventures (especially those involving food or nature or beautiful sites).
