About Me

Hey there! I am a Dutch sociology and international relations student who absolutely loves seeing more of (and learning more about) the world.
Of course, I do perpetuate some stereotypes about the Dutch since I love to explore a new city by bike (exploring the city by other means of transportation is also acceptable I guess haha). Although my sense of direction is not the best (I got lost in the urban jungle of Ho Chi Minh City once since I was pretty sure I knew a short-cut and then walked around for more than 5 hours to find my hostel) I always stay positive and optimistic and most likely will laugh about it.
Besides loving to explore a new place I also really enjoy learning about political and societal developments in the country or place I am travelling at

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To continue meeting more interesting, funny, and open-minded people (and also to save y'all from the crazy costs that come with staying in hostels in Amsterdam).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
HARRY POTTER, I REALLY REALLY LOVE HARRY POTTER
George Orwell (1984, Burmese Days)
Various historical books/novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Going on exchange to Singapore and having a wonderful time there. From having dinner at hawker centres (most restaurants were out of my budget haha), drinking loads of ice coffee and sugar cane juice to making good use of its central location by visiting Singapore's neighbouring countries multiple times.
2. While travelling solo in Sri Lanka I met a really cool guy from a village nearby Sigiriya. We talked food, politics and life in general and then he invited me to stay at his parent's house for the night. From taking a shower (or bath is probably more appropriate) in the nearby lake and see the sunset there to watch wild elephants at night, it was a wonderful experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can always teach you some Dutch or tell you more about its people, traditions and abysmal cuisine.
Share: my enthusiasm for the world and its people!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will do my best to make your stay in Amsterdam as enjoyable as possible. If I have time I will give you a city tour (of course by bike) an hopefully have a good chat and exchange of stories.
Also, please mention "Alohomora" in your request so that I know you actually read my profile. I will return most other requests down, unless you seem extremely awesome and I will thus be able to forgive you for not reading my entire profile.
