Overview
About Me
I'm sometimes known as a performance poet, a storyteller, an easygoing herbivore, and a perpetual runaway. I consider myself a writer, poet, and educator. I hope to use Couchsurfing to make connections with awesome people while exploring new places.
ODD SIDE-NOTE: I'm a heavy guy. When I quit amphetamines a couple years ago, the withdrawal and eating-my-depression led to about 100 extra pounds. I'm not thrilled about it and have lots of shame issues, which is part of why I'm talking about it here: Shining a spotlight on shame issues seems to make them shrink. And also, I hope travel will allow me to have positive, active experiences that lead me toward getting in good shape again.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfer parties, meeting up with surfers, and surfing myself. Once I have my own place, I hope to host.
FAVORITE EXPERIENCES: So, I've surfed with different people, and my favorite experiences have been simple: Cooking with and talking with my hosts about their experiences and perspective. I love being shown around and everything, but there's something about cooking together and talking together that just makes the connection feel more real to me.
(Alas, this can be complicated, as I'm vegetarian and only speak English. But I've had great experiences even with these limitations.)
Interests
Creative writing, performance poetry, educational psychology, swimming, gin, meditation, good books, Joss Whedon, yoga, Buddhism ... I can keep going, if you'd like.

Music, Movies, and Books
These are long lists and I don't want to bog my profile down with them. If you're honestly curious about these things, I'm more than glad to share my favorites. Just message me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Scotland was wild. Ireland was gorgeous. My trip through Scandanavia was fantastic. One of the best days of my life happened in Amsterdam (and I wasn't even high). My childhood European rail trip shaped who I am. Roadtripping is one of my favorite experiences. Utah has its own beauty. In short, I have a lot of stories. I'm glad to share any of them that interest you.
