Hey I'm Rob, an Australian who lives on the beautiful island state of Tasmania. I love travelling and meeting new people, and experiencing new places from the perspective of locals. I'm pretty easy going, and enjoy most things whether it's something active like hiking or relaxing with mates and a few drinks.

I'm off to the USA in 2016 so hoping to meet some like-minded people who share an adventurous spirit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has been a great way to meet and host some travellers back home in Tasmania. As I travel in 2016 I'm hoping to see it from the traveller's perspective and stay with some great hosts!

Interests

Massive sports fan, love my Aussie rules footy and watching NFL (Go Pack Go!). I don't play much sport these days but love to keep fit with running and strength training.

I play guitar badly, sing a little better, and enjoy combining the two to produce somewhat listenable music. Heavily into fly fishing, enjoy riding motorcycles, love hiking and snorkelling.

Not a big fan of winter but if you can't escape to somewhere warmer, you may as well embrace it and go snowboarding!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed to the top of an active volcano in Indonesia back in the day. It wasn't doing much then but about a year later it blew its top and was closed to hikers so very fortunate to experience it.

Way back in 2005 I majored in Australian history at uni so I'll do my best to share what I learnt - it'll likely be full of incorrect dates, wrong names and warped versions of what actually happened!
