About Me
I'm new to Couchsurfing, but it looks like a great way to meet new people and see new places from their eyes. I'm looking forward to becoming more involved in the community and hosting once I've come back!
I just finished an Americorps year working for an environmental non-profit in Sedona, Arizona and now I'm on an adventure!
I'm a pretty normal guy, once from California, now more from Washington. I like climbing rocks and skiing snow and reading books and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To have long conversations with people I otherwise never would have. To visit cities and towns and places I've never heard of. To challenge my thoughts and beliefs about the world I live in and the life I lead in it.
Interests
I like nursing cappuccinos in coffeeshops, pretending to read or write but mostly people watching, although sometimes actually reading or writing. Ideally getting into a conversation with someone and learning something new or making a friend. I also like nursing IPAs in breweries or bars and doing largely the same.
I like being outside. Outside on a mountain somewhere, gear hanging off me like a Christmas tree and over encumbered with too-much of a pack. Outside on a run down a tunnel of trees and fallen leaves and gravel paths, twisting through a wood, popping into and out of sun and shade. Even just outside on a park bench or slung in a hammock, enjoying the day as it passes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Concious old school hip hop that will make you roll your eyes
Movies: the Pickford Film Center in Bellingham, Washington on a drizzly night. I don't even care what's playing, they always have something good and that I've never heard of.
Books: I'm not sure if I have a favorite author or book or whatever. I read a lot and eclectically. Some authors I keep coming back to are Hemingway, Philip K. Dick, and Cormac McCarthy, for better or worse.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to backpack professionally, doing research in the mountains. It was sweet.
