ABOUT ME

I teach English in Ukraine.

In reality I'm a wanderlust stricken Louisianian trotting across the globe at a snails pace. I studied Anthropology and Spanish at the University of Colorado. After school I spent 9 months backpacking through Central America. While there I realized that it was better to actually do something than just drift through. I found different volunteer organizations to work with while there, but after a while the lack of organization seemed to get to me. I eventually found the World Wide Opportunity on Organic Farms, and that was legit. I really enjoyed learning organic farming techniques. Unfortunately, I eventually ran out of money.

Then I joined Peace Corps. Working as a TEFL volunteer I not only have the opportunity to teach English to people who really want to learn, but also have the ability to integrate within the Ukrainian society and learn Russian.

I enjoy my life.

PHILOSOPHY

Sometimes I wonder if life is a puzzle with many missing pieces, and people are the pieces we collect to fill the holes, to create the picture that we want to create.
I can't figure out what picture I am trying to create, with the people and places I try to paint a picture of the reality I suppose is best for me, but am constantly reminded that reality is based on the perceiver, and if I have multiple personalities constantly perceiving things differently: you get where I am going with this?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to help out people when the opportunity presents itself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the whole thing, but over the years I've met numerous individuals who highly recommend the site and say nothing but wonderful things about the people involved. Figured it was about time I'd join.

Interests

- People are pretty awesome, especially those who I
don't yet know

- New countries and the ever changing cultures found
within are fascinating

- I have had an ongoing love affair with Latin America
for many years now

- Movies and music. The less mainstream the better.

- Outdoor activities are much better than indoor ones.
ie. hiking, climbing, kayaking, tubing, grilling,
camping, swimming, skiing, snowshoeing, and
other things that end with -ing and don't
involve a TV

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Listened to howler monkeys begin their nightly routine while watching the sunset on the back side of Temple IV in Tikal with my brother.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling.
