About Me

My name is Rob. I've lived in New York City for the last 12 years. Playing in a very little known rock band called, Wild Yaks. I've dreamt for years of getting on my bike and heading south in the Fall. Chasing summer all the way to Key West. Maybe further. Brand new to couchsurfing.com. Wonder what I've been waiting for. Please feel free to check out my Facebook, Robert A Bryn, and my instagram, Rob_bryn

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cause I’m currently on a trip south. Riding my bike from NYC to South Florida. To meet my brother there. He’s got a sailboat. We’re gonna sail it to the Caribbean for the Winter. But first I have to get there. On my bike. And stay with people. To meet them and to have experiences and make the world a smaller place and save money so that my savings will go further and make the whole thing last longer

Interests

The bike, the ocean, dancing. Playing chess. Feeling things strongly. Like the light and the wind on my skin and being like, Oh God, can you feel it?

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to do these things…I’m traveling with a copy of Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself”. What did I used to like? This movie called “Army of Shadows” directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. I loved that movie. And “Rules of the Game” by Jean Renoir. You ever seen that. I loved the writing of Williams Saroyan and John Fante. John Fante’s pretty great. And Charles Bukowski. And Jane Bowles. You ever read her? She’s amazing. And music…I like Bob Dylan and John Cale and Lou Reed and jazz and classical and doomy, slow, grinding cathartic metal, like Sleep. Although I never choose to put it on. And Ethiopian jazz. And North African guitar. And the sound of America! And the sound of my wheels on the road! The road!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on Law and Order. With my band. You can check it out on imdb.com. The episode is called “Traumatic Wound”. It’s Season 14, Episode 21. I’m in the credits as Wild Yak #1. It was fun. The camera is really big like the lens is way bigger than my head

Teach, Learn, Share

How to play guitar poorly. How to write simple songs. Some basics of chess I’m sure I misunderstand. How not to be a bike mechanic. We could meditate. Or do yoga

What I Can Share with Hosts

We could talk. I can listen. I can tell stories. And sing some stupid simple songs I wrote if you’d like
