About Me

I Don’t have many references because I spent last 30 years being a parent, husband and licensed social worker and teacher. Was a member of Servas, like CS Before internet. Over 35 years working as Social Worker with disabled, at risk youth, adoptions and elderly. 20+ years working in public and private schools as school social worker. Also worked in hospice. Traveled/backpacked for many years in 70's and 80's when things were quite different-no cell phones, internet, ATMs, cheap flights. Ancient history now but miss traveler bonding that was common and necessary in those days due to lack of infrastructure and language challenges in less developed countries. Married 30 years to Peruvian I met while travelling in South America. have 3 boys , now adults?? Now married to wonderful Filipina. Love dogs. Do not smoke, drink rarely. Practice meditation daily since I was 19 years old. I have a strong interest in studying the history, culture, and social conditions of the countries of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Want to connect to people from other cultures and life circumstances. See and experience other cultures and food. I was a member of Servas which is like couchsurfing only we had to write a letter to connect then!

Music, Movies, and Books

Addicted to Spotify; many podcasts, and various music. Count of Monte Christo, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Tibetan book of the Dead have been influential books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to 90+ countries mostly solo. 11days on Trans-Siberian rail; trekked to Mt Everest in Tibet; Robbed on 4 continents, so far. Practice meditation two times a day since age 19.

Teach, Learn, Share

When not traveling, can host. Certified teacher. Open to volunteering time for a good cause.
Mostly desire to meet people to teach me about their country, do not need cheap bed, although staying in host's home is usually a better experience. Do not mind sleeping on couch or floor.

What I Can Share with Hosts
