Overview
About Me
There are old geeks and there are bold geeks, and I'm an old, bold geek. I was born in Boulder Colorado and raised in Dallas Texas. An avid reader from the age of 4, I became seriously interested in writing as a senior in high school. Since then, I have had several pieces of poetry published in various literary magazines and anthologies, and am currently working on a novel length work of fantastic fiction.
I began college at Texas Tech University, after dropping out to spend five years serving my county in the Navy, I returned to pursue a degree in English at the University of Texas at Arlington. After graduating, I returned to a career in computer programming, primarily working in business to business real estate, hr and e-commerce applications.
My hobbies, other than reading and writing, include hand-making chain mail armor, playing chess and other abstract strategy and board games, and baking.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm very much an introvert (and somewhat shy sometimes), but I still like to meet new people and I definitely would rather experience local culture with local people with whom I share some interests. If visiting a city and staying at a hotel, I'm not likely to see anything except the official "tourist" sites, but I'd much rather really get to know some people and make lasting connections - hence I'm giving couch-surfing a try.
Here's to getting to know you.

Movie: Groundhog Day - Starring Bill Murray - I watch it every year.
Music: Not really much of a music nerd. Neo-classical, nerd-core, humorous lyrical ballads (e.g. Weird Al).
