About Me

Hi everyone. I was born in Australia but my family is from Italy. I love travelling and meeting people from all different cultures and walks of life. I spent the past 10 years not travelling enough so now it's time to make up for it.

I am a very honest, trustworthy and reliable person. I like to help people when I can as there's nothing more fulfilling in life. I am an avid listener, I like to learn from others and I share my knowledge with anyone who seeks it.

I love learning new skills and I try to constantly improve myself. If I could learn everything, I seriously would.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I thought couch surfing was a new sport. I was ready to buy another couch and test the waters (no pun intended)

No, that's not true. Should I write "I have a terrible sense of humor" in the 'about me' section?

I'm on Couchsurfing because I like to meet new people. I find people's life stories fascinating and we can always learn from them.

Interests

I love travelling. I wish I've done more of it. I love trying new food. I enjoy cooking, although these days I cook more simple dishes as I'm time poor. I speak Italian but I've been learning our local family dialect from Sicily. I was learning Spanish at one stage and I really want to continue learning it again. I plan to learn more langues such as Japanese, Arabic and Latin. Learning new skills is probably one of the most important things to me. I think a person should always be learning and developing themselves as knowledge is power.
I am very curious about other people's traditions/cultures and am always interested in their stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of deep vocal house. I listen to a bit of pop, rnb or rock when it's on the radio. I love the sound of the Spanish guitar! I started learning how to play it on the guitar for a while until i realised i was terrible so I decided I'll just stick to playing it on my Iphone instead..

Comedy movies are my favourite. My least preferred genre would be chick flicks and drama but if there's popcorn and ice cream, I'd probably watch anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 16, I decided to live in Italy for 6 months through an exchange program. It was the most amazing and rewarding experience I could have ever asked for. There I learn to speak Italian, I made life long friends, I traveled to the south of Italy to meet my relatives for the first time and I connected with my heritage and the culture of my grandparents and ancestors. At that age, travelling to a foreign country, not speaking the language or not knowing anyone really made me grow as a person. I was forced to deal with home sickness and the frustrations of not understanding people or being misunderstood because of the language barrier. Because of it, I became strong and very independent and I proved to myself how capable I was of achieving anything if I persisted and never gave up. These qualities have stayed with me since then and have helped me in many situations throughout my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you desire to be good at something, you have to remember that the start is always the hardest. Persistence is the key.

Failure must be embraced in everything you do! You have to fail to succeed, it's the only way. Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Get back up. Fall again. Get up again. Just DON'T QUIT!

The key to success is in your mind. That person in the mirror is the only person that will stop you from achieving what you want in life. Don't listen to other's opinions. It's not important what they say about you. What's important is what YOU say about YOU.

Life is full of ups and downs. Enjoy the ride.
