About Me

I took early retirement some years ago, but I didn't get along with retirement and was fortunate to be brought back to work at least a period of time every year and each assignment has been somewhere abroad, usually locations with challenges. I have always enjoyed my work and my travel, and will continue as long as I can do it. I have travelled to many countries in Europe, Middle East, Africa, South America and the Caribbean. and lived for some years in many of them. I wish we could live to at least a couple hundred years and then I could see and learn so much more

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a world traveller, I take interest in other people's journeys and their reasons for wanting to go places. There is a whole world out there with people wanted to meet other people and get to know so many different cultures. I want to meet and know these people

Interests

Of course, i am interested in developments in the countries that I have lived in and what are the challenges of these people. I have many friends in so many places and try hard to keep up with their lives as much as possible. I follow the political and economic conditions of many places, just because I am interested.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a great movie fan, but enjoy a bit of television such as NCIS, Murder She Wrote, and some PBS series. The Big Bang Theory is marvelous as was Freinds bebore that.
I read a lot and have a few particular authors that I enjoy. PD James is my top author, but there are many. Dan Brown's books are interesting to a point.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I had never been anywhere, or done anything, I could have a long list. But at this time of my life, I have done so many amazing things that it is not possible to list much in such a short space. But I did climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, and I have been to the Antarctic. Yeah, really exciting for some and indeed for me, but there are so many others like cruising on the Amazon River, skiing in Chile, visiting Machu Pichu in Peru, being in the Middle East during the gulf war, living through the revolution in Ethiopia when Emperor Haile Selassi was deposed. There is no end to exciting events.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is never a shortage of information that we can learn. There is any amount of information that we can share, and that doesn't need to come from world travelling, but can be just people and their background and culture, without ever leaving home. Everyone has something to share with someone who can also listen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have plenty to share with my hosts as you can see some of the things I have done in my life. Except I am not a cook, so any guests will have to make do, although all the utensils are there.
