About Me

CURRENT MISSION

bring on the green economy

ABOUT ME

I live in Takoma Park, Maryland (just outside DC). I'm attending graduate school in College Park and working to promote progressive energy policy.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm always looking for the common thread that connects me to another person. My interests are all over the place because I've done a lot of traveling and am not afraid to get out of my comfort zone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept on lots of couches, and have had many folks sleep on my couch, but am new to this website!

Interests

Baseball (LA Dodgers). Renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. Afrobeat. Financial markets. Meeting new people over beer, dancing (badly) at a show, and seeing where the night takes me!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies/TV: For the most part, I like to watch sports or news. Not that into sitcoms or dramas.
Music: Bob Dylan, Manu Chao and Aesop Rock are my favorites. Lately have been listening to a lot of West African music and jazz, but I have a really open mind when it comes to music.
Books: The Dice Man, White Tiger, anything by Bukowski and Hunter S. Thompson. I'm not a heavy reader, but I do love travel books and anything on stock trading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen some really cool natural wonders-- scuba diving in well-preserved reefs in Honduras, rapelling in the Zambezi River gorge, some incredible beaches in Oaxaca. I also showed up in the Palenque ruins on, coincidentally, the Mayan New Year, just in time to see a procession of folks in white robes and an insane wizardly-looking guy frantically passing out Diet Pepsi to his followers. I was never able to determine the significance of the Pepsis.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is nothing new under the sun, goes the proverb. I've found this to be true in many ways. Every struggle you go through has been seen by many people before you. Every person you meet has something in common. Every hero will have a flaw exposed.
