About Me

I work as a business development manager in the Copenhagen office of CK Hutchison. Previously, I lived and worked two years in Shanghai, China, and now speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.

I have a strong desire to challenge myself. Within the last years, I have spent months living in Australia, Ecuador, Russia, the UK and the US. A few years ago, I taught myself fluent written and spoken Spanish and thereafter spent weeks traveling alone in the Spanish countryside. I’ve also spent two months living in the Amazon in South American Ecuador.

I have an open and international mindset. I am a self-driven person and I always push myself to the edge of my comfort zone, which has made me an experienced marathon-runner.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading is my biggest hobby. I used to be really interested in everything about The Roman Empire. My favorite authors were Colleen McCullough, Adrian Goldsworthy, and Conn Iggulden.

I later fell in love with reading the old classics of European literature. Alexandre Dumas' books are fantastic, as I love everything with action, love, and war. Albert Camus is a favorite. Jean-Paul Sartre, whose writing I love, although I disagree with most of his thoughts. I have a love-hate relationship with Charles Dickens, as his writing is phenomenal but his plots bore me and some of the books are a bit heavy to get through. Same applies to Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Thomas Mann is wonderful, I dream of learning German so I can read his novels in their original language. The same goes for Russian classics Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy and Solzhenitsyn. John Steinbeck is my favorite American writer.
Amongst Danish classics, my favorite is Lykke-Per by Henrik Pontoppidan. I recommend it to foreigners who wish to learn about Danish culture and mentality.

The past years I have lost some of my patience for the classics and I have begun to read almost only non-fiction literature. My favorite books are those that change the way I see the world. The End of Power by Moises Naím is a favorite. The same are books by Matt Ridley; Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari; Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman; works of philosophy by Bertrand Russell, his thinking is clear and easy to understand; The Better Angels of Our Nature by Steven Pinker; Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
I do not know much about art, but I like A World History of Art by Hugh Honour and various biographies of artists and painters.

---

When it comes to music, I like almost everything except pop music and heavy metal. I listen to Chinese folk singers, especially Dongye Song. My favorite Spanish and Latin-American musicians are Shakira, Calle 13, Bomba Estereo, and Mercedes Sosa. My favorite voices are Shakira, Mercedes Sosa, Seinabo Sey, Eric Clapton, Lou Reed, and George Ezra. All-time favorite song is Into My Arms by Nick Cave and Latinoamerica by Calle 13.

---

I do not watch as many movies as I would like to. I love action and the Roman Empire, so Gladiator is my favorite. Other favorites are Requiem for a Dream, About Time, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, and My Left Foot. Also Million Dollar Baby, which always makes me cry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Run a marathon; learned fluent Spanish in 6 months; learned Chinese; lived in Australia, Ecuador, Russia etc. I consider all of these things really cool and memorable, but I would not say that I have achieved anything amazing in my life so far. Maybe one day...
