Overview
About Me
I am a freelance software developer, although more free than developer right now, as I'm slooowly trying to figure out what kind of a business I'd like to create.
I grew up in Latvia and still remember how dramatic was the development of infrastructure over the years - not just mobile phones and internet, but also roads, public transportation, dining, stores and recently universities.
For a brief time I was studying in the US, before going to UK to fix the negative balance in my account. Having done that I returned to Latvia to become a software developer, going from employee to remote employee to freelancer in a year and a half. Since then I've tried to start something new.
About the languages - no I'm not actively learning the four, I just have past experience and limited communication ability, I am only paying attention to Japanese right now (pitch accent T_T).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting cool people. Doesn't always happen, but that's no problem. Sharing different perspectives, different approaches to living is also fun. Last but not least, it's about exchanging information.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like some K-Dramas, some anime, though youtube is often the default.
Koto, Shamisen and Shakuhachi instrument music for relaxation.
Videogames, especially Apex Legends (but also a little bit of PUBG, Fortnite, League of Legends, TFT, etc).
Certain 'lifestyle' books, such as Tim Ferriss' 'The 4-Hour Workweek', but I understand those who don't.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cycled on a frozen river
Teach, Learn, Share
I've invested some time in understanding history from geographical and technological perspective which I'm not afraid to share, but only if the other party is interested.
Also, I can explain how I went from catering in UK to freelancing software in Latvia, but that's more of a share than a teach.
Yet my most recent discoveries are about how to make or break a week - how with the best intentions an entire 7 days can be amazingly wasted or surprisingly well spent.
Last but not least, I have attempted a handful of methods for language learning, such as spaced repetition, immersion and comprehensible input.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can talk, also, I can remain quiet. Depending on the facilities I might be able to cook.
