About Me

CURRENT MISSION

find enough time and money to visit a great friend in Canada

PLEASE NOTE:

It's a bit sad to have to say this, but here it goes. Please take the time to read profiles (that includes the 'My Home' section) before writing requests. It'll be worth it, because that way you find the people you really want to stay with, rather than writing to everyone and making CS a numbers game. I'd much rather get 3 good, non-Copy+Paste requests than 20 of which I have to decline 15 straightaway because they're terrible.

ABOUT ME

easy going guy, interested in learning languages and exploring new countries.
I like to chat about anything, share my knowledge, experience and opinions and discover yours.
I do a lot of sports, but also enjoy an evening all alone with a nice book.

I know quite a lot of great places in Berlin to sit, have a beer and enjoy the good weather or a sunset. I can also take you on a walking tour from the western to the eastern city centre, along parks, rivers and historical buildings. I don't go to nightclubs really often, so my knowledge of the Berlin nightlife is limited, but I will be able to find a nice bar.

PHILOSOPHY

friend or foe - everything is easier when you can communicate with people in their in their own language.
If you have a bike in a city, who needs a car?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have very limited space at mine because my room is tiny, one mattress on the floor, that's it. If you don't mind that, you're welcome to come. By travelling, I hope to meet new friends, learn new things and share travel experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with hosts in Italy, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and Denmark and have hosted people everywhere I've lived (Berlin, France, Ireland). It's incredible every time how many great people you meet as a guest or as a host and how strangers can become friends in such short time.

Interests

I can be sporty and adventurous, that's when I go hiking or meet up with friends for football, tennis or some other sport. I'm also on the committee of a Gaelic Football club in Berlin and play in the men's team. We travel around Europe for tournaments throughout the year. I can also be lazy, that's when I stay inside with tea, food, music and a book.

I know some songs in English, Irish or Scottish Gaelic and always enjoy learning more or listening to other people play instruments or singing their tunes.

Music, Movies, and Books

traditional music from almost anywhere. Julie Fowlis is fantastic!
also I'm always curious to find music from all corners of the earth.

I don't always understand art, but I appreciate it.

I enjoy British comedies, but there are so many good films, hard to highlight one. A Fish called Wanda would be my favourite if I had to name one.

I'm always looking for interesting books I haven't read. I like the adventure novels of Verne, Stevenson or Swift, short stories by Dahl or Chekhov and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spend more than one of my 25 years on the beautiful island of Bornholm. It's not the busiest place to be, but my favourite and if you are a fan of Danish people and smoked fish like I am, there is no better place!!

Generally I think what amazes me most is the little wonders our Earth provides and the fundamental trust, friendliness and willingness to help that I've found in people so often now and that I'm hoping to show to others myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to exchange views and experiences, meet different people from different countries and learn new things, useful or not. Sharing knowledge is great and free, everyone should do it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

So many travel stories...I'll tell you when I meet you.
I can bring you things from Germany if you want.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
