I'm a UK national, usually working in telecomms as an applications engineer, but currently on a career break travelling through Latin America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures - getting a local perspective on places opens up a whole new dimension to them. I also want to improve my Spanish a little as it's pretty terrible right now! ;)

Interests

I love travel (obvsly), hiking, biking, mountains, & generally being outdoors, but also enjoy the vibrancy and life of cities. Other hobbies when I'm home include home brewing, wine making, growing chillies, & making kick-ass chilli sauces!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm big into music, of many kinds - hip hop, indie, & many styles of electronic music, & love going to see it played out. I also love to read - contemporary fiction, science fiction, pop science, & comic books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One highlight of my current trip was hiking up Volcan Acatenengo in Guatemala on a 2-day trip. When the clouds cleared around 10.30 at night, we could see Fuego (the adjacent volcano) erupting in huge gouts of lava every 15-20 minutes. That's something I've wanted to see for many years, so a big box ticked there! Sunrise from the summit the next day was just the icing on the cake.
