Overview
About Me
I'm older than the average couch surfer, but don't let that put you off. I'm crazy about traveling and meeting people from around the world. I've lived in Colombia and Bangkok and traveled widely in South America, Europe, Israel and a bit in Asia. This summer we're heading to Norway, Czech Republic and Denmark.
I’m a veteran journalist and writer, working as an editor for a business magazine in New York, mostly covering health care but also writing about food and farming. For my blog at Forbes.com. My husband is an archeologist by training but now works in marketing for an architectural-engineering firm. We love to travel, exercise, do yoga, attend theater and concerts, I like to cook healthy organic vegetarian food. I design hand-crafted jewelry and quilt when I've got time, and maintain a big organic garden up in the Catskills, where we have an old, funky farmhouse on 3 acres.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My daughter has been couch surfing with great success, and I only wish it was around when I was her age and traveling the world. We'd like to share our love for New York City, where we've lived for over 25 years. And we'd love to meet new people in the countries we travel to.
Interests
I am nuts about travel. We have spent a lot of time in South America in recent years, as our son spent five years in Rio playing cello with the symphony.
We to visit museums, archeological sites, hike and see nature, experience different foods and cultures, particularly enjoy checking out local music scenes and local folk arts/crafts wherever we go. I love to make jewelry with local beads and things..love to collect textiles too.

Music, Movies, and Books
Pretty eclectic music tastes. Enjoy alt and classic rock, classical, folk, jazz, world and sometimes tolerate bluegrass. But not big on hip-hop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled alone through South America in my 20s, and engaged in the pre-Internet form of couch-surfing: basically, I just met people wherever I went and got invited into people's homes. It was awesome.
Teach, Learn, Share
You are welcome to cook or garden with me. I have a lot of food sensitivities, so I've learned to work my way around them to cook creatively. We live down the block from a great health food supermarket, where we buy most of our food when it's not garden season. Spring and summer we have a lot of produce from our organic garden in upstate new York.
