About Me

If I didn't have 2 dogs and 2 cats, I'd probably be off on a travel adventure of my own but these "kids" tie me down a bit. The dogs love people - perhaps to a fault. I enjoy people but I'm not big on small talk. I enjoy conversations with meaning and depth. I'm a mother of 4 children (only 3 still on this earth) and the last is a Junior in college (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN).
I live in a quiet neighborhood that is close to all the major highways in San Antonio as well as the airport and bus stops. I work for the US Army at Headquarters, Medical Command.
I enjoy the outdoors. I bike, hike, jog as well as take my dogs for long walks on weekends,
I only accept "friend requests" from those who have been my Couchsurfing guests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about this program while researching lodging options for my college-aged son's future European trip. It all sounds very interesting and I am open to learning more about it and possibly hosting visitors to San Antonio. I'm always interested in learning about people from other places and differing backgrounds than my own. And, of course, it's fun to share common interests with folks, as well.
I have met so many amazing individuals who have been my guests! I remain close to many of them to this day. I look forward to visiting them in their own hometowns at some future date . Because I still work full time and am a couple of years away from semi-retirement, I can still be active in world travels by having people from around the globe visit me!

Music, Movies, and Books

Live music - I try to get out to see it often and am blessed to live in an area of the country that affords me those opportunities in abundance.
Books - I always have several going at a time...mainly non fiction such as psychology, inspirational, spiritual. If I do read fiction I like short stories and my monthly subscription to The Sun, that friends gifted to me. Movies - I tend to like Indie and International films and documentaries - anything that makes me think and/or feel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made it through 22 years in the Army Reserves - and I'm a "dove" (but I'm a nurse so it was very rewarding).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have always been a bit of an amateur travel agent and I like to keep up on what's happening in my community. As children, our parents took us on a few cross-country trips and we had relatives in many US states so I was exposed to "other" places from a young age. As an adult, I moved around the US with the Army and as a Travel Nurse and done some international traveling. . In preparation for relocating, I love to "study-up" on a new place I will be living or visiting, especially seeking out the local scene, art and music culture and off-the-beaten-path interests and attractions. Oh, and of course the food!
I also love finding deals - restaurant discounts, best airline and hotel prices, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Belgium, Egypt, France, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands, Saint Kitts and Nevis
