ABOUT ME

I grew up in the Discovery Islands and spent much of my early life "messing about in boats" a pastime that eventually led me to my current occupation on Sea Kayak guide and paddler. Along the way I forayed into sailing for a while, first in small boats and then on traditional tall ships. I volunteered as Watch Leader/Bosun's Mate/outdoor educator for a few summers on board the Pacific Grace, a 140 ft gaff rigged schooner that takes 25-30 highschool age youth out on 5-10 day sailing trips around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

In spring 2012 I spent 60 days paddling 2000 km from Quadra Island to Skagway Alaska with two friends. It was an amazing experience. I fell in love with the feeling of travelling under nothing but your own power, having nothing to do each day move to your next camp, and spending time with friends away from the normal confines of society. It was an opprotunity not only to explore and learn more about the coast that I grew up on, but also to discover things about myself, and people close to me.

Since then some other adventures have included 2 months exploring Ecuador, several more seasons sea kayak guiding, a winter season spent as a professional ski patroller, and a couple of winter seasons spent kayak guiding in Chilean Patagonia and the Exuma Cays in the Bahamas.
